Series: Bad Habits #2
Everyone knows you should never say never.
Cooper Moore never saw Maggie Williams coming. She was just his best friend’s little sister, the curly-haired, freckle-faced girl from Mississippi who was absolutely off limits. And he never thought about her any other way — not until he saw her that night, broken and brave. From that moment on, he knew he’d do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant he had to stay away.
Maggie never expected to find her fiancé banging her maid of honor an hour before she was set to walk down the aisle, but life’s funny that way. The only option to save her sanity is to get the hell out of Jackson and move to New York where her brother lives. The only downside: Cooper is there too. And she just doesn’t know if she can stay away from him — the filthy rich, dead sexy playboy who’s allergic to commitment.
The second Maggie sees him again, she realizes he’ll be impossible to resist. Luckily, commitment is the last thing on her mind, and Cooper is the perfect escape. As long as she can keep her heart in check, everything will be just fine. Because she can never have feelings for him. Or at least that’s what she’ll keep telling herself.
Chaser is a standalone romantic comedy and book 2 of the Bad Habits series.
I never would have thought that in this series, one of the male love interests would top West, but holy crap did Cooper ever sneak up on me. If you love a male lead that is confident but not an ass, sweet as hell, caring, funny and has character growth that is realistic and honest, I can’t suggest Chaser more to you.
Cooper and Maggie’s story was one that I was instantly curious about in With A Twist, and to say that Staci Hart delivered would be an understatement. Their story starts off with a bang and is non stop intensity from then on out, but what I loved about Chaser was that the intensity and love was organic. It didn’t jump from first sight to insta-lust to immediate love, and although it took place over a relatively short period of time, it was natural.
Hart fleshes out her character so beautifully, and each one has a wonderful personality. I love this group of friends so so much, and getting a peak into old couples lives was a treat. One thing I have to say that was an absolute surprise, but a fantastic one, was Cooper’s relationship with his parents. So typically when you have a rich billionaire character, his/her parents are absentee and lame. Cooper’s were lovely and supporting and it was refreshing to see in this one.
All in all, Staci Hart knows how to write with heart. She’s created a series full of flawed but lovable characters, in a fun and quirky setting, and given them stories and life that is beautiful and fun. I am so excited to see where the rest of this series is going! Also, i die over these covers and the teasers she has with them.
And check out the first book in the series, With A Twist!
To say I need these books in physical format is also a gross understatement, but they aren’t available in Canada unfortunately 🙁
