I was SO fortunate enough to spend a lot of time away this summer with friends and family and keeping extremely busy. Unfortunately, that really impacted my blogging. I felt it really difficult to dedicate the time to sitting down at my computer and reviewing books and making posts when the weather was gorgeous and I wanted to be out doing something.
Now, that doesn’t mean I didn’t read a TON. Because I read crazy amounts of really amazing books! I wanted to write some mini reviews of the books that really stood out to me this summer!
HOLY CRAP this series is easily one of my favourites of ALL time now. I really struggled with The Girl of Fire and Thorns but as soon as I got into The Crown of Embers I couldn’t put them down!
The adventure, intrigue and omg the romance! Every part of this series has captured my attention and my heart. Elisa is absolutely one of the best leading ladies I have ever read. Her strength, determination and badassness along with the best character growth I have ever read put in the top spot for favourite female protagonists in YA lit. And Hector. Oh man I want me my own Hector.
The Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy is a can’t miss series in YA fantasy and YA lit in general! Rae Carson is amazing.
I thought that I had found an angel series that I loved in Lauren Kate’s Fallen series, and while I still love it, Cynthia Hand’s series takes the cake. Unearthly’s Wyoming setting, lazy summer days and timeline of each school year and summer per book made for a totally perfectly paced and plotted book.
Clara was really an awesome lady! I loved her family dynamics and I adored that there was actually a solid relationship with a parent who was incredibly involved in her life. Tucker and Christian made this book crazy difficult, because this was a love triangle with some serious struggles.
I haven’t read Boundless yet because I am waiting for the paperback but I am SO ANXIOUS to find out how it ends!
A coworker recommended this one to me and oh man am I ever glad I read it! It was such an incredibly dark and amazing post apocalyptic story, that just so happened to be about terrifying angel apocalypse.
Penryn is such a tough chick! She’ll do whatever it takes to keep her family safe, even if that means teaming up with a snarky angel with a chip on his shoulder. Basically, Angelfall is just amazing and I am beyond excited for World After!
Well. This was one of the most epic books i’ve ever read. It started out slow with the world building but oh man did it ever get badass. Yukiko and Buruu’s relationship was so awesome, and the deceit and lies and epicness of this story really does deserve a full review but this is what’s happening. I’m currently reading Kinslayer and looooving it too!
That’s all for now but i’ll come back with more mini reviews!
If you’ve read any of these let me know what you think about them too!
