Charming, daring, and romantic, Bruno is just the Italian Pippa’s looking for—except she keeps running into cute American archeology student Darren everywhere she goes. Pippa may be determined to fall in love with an Italian guy … but the electricity she feels with Darren says her heart might have other plans. Can Pippa figure out her feelings before her parents discover she left the program and—even worse—she loses her chance at love?
Pippa is stuck in her shell, but when the opportunity arises for her to step outside her box and try something new, she grabs it and embraces it. She meets wonderful new people, travels a gorgeous country, and learns to stick up to a parent who is blind to what their child really wants.
The romance was adorable, swoony and genuinely nice. Darren and his wild hair was the perfect love interest, he was adventurous and not afraid to try new things and he helped Pippa embrace that side of herself.
My one complaint is that i’m disappointed with the fact that Pippa didn’t travel within Italy more. She had this fantastic chance to see the country, and instead she hunkered down in one place and took a weekend trip to Pompeii. I don’t feel like she got to see enough of the country. I also wish she had just graduated high school or something. Being still in high school, I felt like it was an excuse for her not to travel more.
But all in all, I really did love this book! It was fun, flirty, the food descriptions were amazing, the culture shined through and the romance was super sweet. A fantastic summer read!
