I am super super excited to be getting back into book blogging. Swept Away By Books will be taking a new turn this new year, and it mainly stems from a Publishing class that I am taking. Publication of The Self in Everyday Life is a required class in my publishing minor and so far it’s amazing. We are really focusing on how you present yourself in day to day life, but focusing on your online self. Not only that, but I miss blogging and we had to be on WordPress, so it was the PERFECT opportunity for me to mosey on over from Blogger to WordPress with a brand new look and feel! I won’t be sticking strictly to young adult book reviews anymore as it isn’t the only genre of books that i’ve been reading lately. I’ve branched further and further back into the world of adult historical fiction and I couldn’t be more excited about it. I’ll be trying my hand at a slightly more personal type of blogging as well, as I reflect on my place in the blogging world and my life-long love of reading.
With this publishing class, we have to maintain a blog. It can be a blog about anything but we have to have a certain amount of posts each week that deal with our class. I am lucky enough to be able to use my own blog and continue on with it that way. The three types of posts that we have to post each week are blog posts that revolve around the content of our blog, journal entries that discuss our class readings for the week and finally a post detailing a part of our life that we are tracking. I’ve chosen to track how many times a week i’m working out, and our post has to reflect on how we feel about publishing those statistics to the world (aka my little corner of the internet). If you felt you wanted to read those publishing oriented posts, you are more than welcome, but if you want to stick around for just the reviews and book posts, you are more than welcome again too!
It’s definitely been a while away from blogging for me, as school, work and life in general seemed to absolutely consume me. I was actively working with the amazing women at Adventures In YA Publishing, but even that became too much and I had to unfortunately take a step back. With all of that, Swept Away By Books fell to the wayside and I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to be getting back into it!
I look forward to this new venture into blogging with you all <3
